Myethos Fairytale -Another- Cheshire Cat 1/8 figure MyFigureCollection.net
Warning: VERY picture-heavy review.
Note: This figure is not and cannot be listed in the database (in case you are not aware of the MFC rules) as it is of a combination of a non-Japanese character and manufactured by a non-Japanese figure company.
Hello everyone, and welcome to another of my figure review blogs! :D This is my 11th figure from the Chinese figure company Myethos - and it is the Cheshire Cat 1/8 scale figure. I was very excited about this figure despite being slightly skeptical given what I thought was a tad unnecessarily sexy nature (no prude!) - but I thought the overall design was really good so I preordered her.
This figure is part of Myethos's FairyTale line and is currently the seventh figure produced in this line (and the fourth of the Alice in Wonderland series). The Fairytale series is my absolute favourite figure line - with the Little Mermaid being my favourite figure of my entire collection thus far. She was the last Fairytale figure released back in January 2020 so it has been quite some time since then and I was hyped for the newcomer ;D
The Cheshire Cat figure is based off the beautiful art by ASK (entry/57044), the very same artist whose work is brought to scale in popular Myethos figures including Stardust, Wisteria Lilith, Queen Of Hearts, White Rabbit and the upcoming Hatsune Miku Shaohua (item/998271).

The figure arrived yesterday and I unboxed her after my work for the day was done. There had been initial trouble with this figure on the seller side which necessitated me to go to customer service for assistance, so I was really grateful that I finally got her and the fact that the box arrived without any damage was just icing on the whole cake!
THE BOX & PACKAGING: 8.5/10
The box is transparent plastic, as all current Myethos figure boxes go. There are two things that I now like about these type of boxes. One, the box flaps are easy to bend/manipulate one way or the other without damage. Second, they really can double as display boxes - especially with this Cheshire Cat figure, which I will show later on in this review. (though if you do that, you are then left with those pesky plastic shells and plastic packaging XD)
The front of the box is not very remarkable with shiny purple border patterns and text. As with transparent boxes, all the protective packaging is much more visible than the figure per se.

I love the back of the box, there is a cute silhouette of the Cheshire Cat sitting on the tree trunk with keys and thorns and patterns of roses.

The sides of the box are rather nice too - with different silhouettes of the cat surrounded by a circle of thorny vines.

The top flap of the box is plain with the same purple shiny text.

And this is what I mean when I said the box can double as a display case. I felt that this box had more elaborate patterns compared to previous figure boxes from Myethos - even the paper inlay has a nice colour shade with patterns. The bottom of the inlay features a crest-like symbol of a rose with thorns. The incorporation of a rose theme is a little confusing for the Cheshire Cat (a theme which would serve more accurate for the Queen Of Hearts) but it still adds to the mysterious beauty of the figure so I am not complaining ;)

The protection for this figure is great, as always. There are plastic sheets attached to corners and covering more fragile parts of the figure and the two plastic shells encasing the figure are very securely attached.

The figure comes with a postcard-sized art card, an assembly manual and the Myethos company card.

Back of the postcard.

I managed to snag an order with a bonus Shikishi (a big one at that!) and I absolutely loved it, it is the prettiest bonus I have received so far. The art is beautiful and there is a printed ASK signature in gold. I believe there are two types of bonuses for Cheshire Cat - this Shikishi is one and the other is an acrylic stand.

I would rate the box and packaging an overall 8.5 out of 10 - not a fan of the transparent boxes but they seem to be getting prettier and prettier as the company improves on the inlay inside and the motifs used on the box.
THE BASE: 10.0/10
The base is BEAUTIFUL even on its own, incomplete.

There are two additional separate pieces to the tree base - which are two beautiful vibrant-coloured roses.

The roses attach to pegs on one front sepal, and to one of the vine ends. They fit well without problems.

And this is how the completed base looks like. Just gorgeous, and the vibrant colours really pop out against the dark tree trunk.

Back of the base.

The sculpt and paint over the keys is really good. They look shiny and ornate.

The roots of the tree are also sculpted well - the blue flowers look like tacky plastic but that's just a very minor complaint.

The pink thorny vines over the tree trunk have a plain sculpt but the pink-purple gradient is really striking against the gray. There is even a glittery sheen over the leaf.

The two roses are really pretty - the paint is very bright and there is also a glittery sheen to them similar to the vine. The red rose has glitter over several petal edges.

All in all, I absolutely love the base and give full marks for the design, sculpt and paint! Myethos rarely disappoints with their creative bases, and this time they came through swinging as well.
THE SCULPT: 9.5/10
THE PAINT: 9.5/10
Moving on to the figure, she comes in one separate piece designed to be fixed to the single peg on the tree trunk.
Her face is sculpted well, I especially like the paint of the eyes with the cat-like pupils, prominent eyelashes and rainbow colours. The mouth is also sculpted well, and I like that they gave a curvier shape to the mouth corners to mimic a subtle grin (it's not as obvious as a Cheshire Cat's ought to be, but then that would make the figure look scary) - she looks just enough to appear mischievous and playful.
I also like her skin tone colour - most of the figures I own have the standard fair skin and this one is nicely different.

One of the common criticism Myethos had received in the past is the "tone-less" colour of their figures' hair - so I guess they decided to do it a little different this time, though I think they are also trying to impart a "disappearing" feel to the ends of her hair. The hair is brown with a lighter gradient going outward, and the ends are translucent. I thought the hair sculpt is really nice, it gives off the impression of movement and the two bigger strands at the end nicely mimic cat ears. The paint is not something to shout about, but I would not have minded whether the hair was a solid colour or not.

Cheshire Cat's outfit is something akin to that of a sexy dominatrix, with a key-and-roses theme. The back of her black collar extends into a long end which holds a silver key, and the rest of her outfit is fastened at the front by gold padlocks. Breasts and cleavage are very sexy and nicely sculpted.

Cheshire Cat's bodysuit is sexy, and has a very nice dark purplish glitter sheen (I am not sure if it is very noticeable in the photos). I also like the inner layer of the suit which they painted a darker colour tone to give off the impression of being see-through (at least, that was the impression I got XD)

The straps and buckles are nicely detailed and the colour alternates between black and purple. Even the large ribbon at her back has the same glitter sheen.

The details of the bodysuit are very nicely done from the ribbons and roses and straps. The big ribbon positioned strategically at her bottom just adds to the teasing with her sexy curves ;)

I like that her outfit is asymmetrical (though we don't get to see that in her standard pose). The right halve is much more modest with a long sleeve and half of a short dress train. The long black sleeve also has the same purplish sheen, and I love that they sculpted a rugged torn look to the ends (like a witch's sleeves or bat's wings.

Another different view of the front of her dress. The little gold padlocks and keys are very detailed and I love the bright contrasting colours. I love the glossy paint of her high gloves - it gives off a dark but translucent feel. Again, very sexy cleavage ;)

Her nails are painted nicely.

Panty shot!
And while we are breaching NSFW borders, I will just show the inlet which fixes to the peg on the base (which is funnily right on her buttock). It is rather small but so far she sits on the tree trunk without trouble and is stable.
Cheshire Cat's legs, like the rest of her appearance, really oozes sex appeal ;D I love her shoes - they are unique as they are not really heels but the design mimics her black collar. Loving the black glossy paint too. Her darker-toned glossy (and somewhat torn) high stocking really enhances the sexy look. The asymmetrical tight fabric around her leg and chest adds a bondage feel to her dominatrix appearance.

And here is the "disappearing" portion of the Cheshire Cat - the left foot is translucent at the end and moving inwards, which I thought was really nicely done. The tail is also turning translucent at the end.

I loved the different purple tones of the criss-crossing ribbons wrapped around the tail.

All in all, I LOVE the sculpt and paintwork of this figure - I think Cheshire Cat has very well-detailed sculpt and I can barely note any paint faults.
THE POSE: 9.0/10
Cheshire Cat's pose is definitely the most unique of the figures I own, being horizontal and suspended above the base. It is a sexy pose and highlights her curves and legs very well. The one thing I did not like about the pose is that we don't get to appreciate a full proper view of her bodysuit and face, after all the trouble of the details and paint. I would much prefer a frontal and diagonally-lounging pose, but that is just my personal preference.
It is still a beautiful pose and does well to convey the playfulness of the Cheshire Cat.

The back pose.

The side poses.

FINAL THOUGHTS
We have reached near the end of the review, I think it is definitely heavier with photos than usual XD - but this is my first Myethos Fairytale figure review using my new camera phone (the last Mermaid one was back when I was using my super old one) so why not go overboard? Also, the Fairytale line is my favourite so I tend to gush a lot XD
So anyway back to this figure. I have absolutely no regrets getting her - she is a beautifully detailed figure and a modern sexy twist to a fairytale character. The use of contrasting colours also makes her instantly striking and a very eye-catching display. The base is fantastic.
The figure is rather heavy (this is a subjective feeling, I did not weigh her - but I found her heavier than Little Mermaid and White Rabbit) so shipping fees might be hefty depending on your region. The price tag can also be rather pricey for the figure (though definitely not in comparison to the bigger-guns figure companies) - she is my third most expensive Myethos figure, behind Stardust and Wang Zhaojun.

The transparent box is starting to grow on me, and really makes a nice display case for the figure. Behold my attempt below XD

The Cheshire Cat is a 1/8 scale and goes well with her sisters from the Myethos -Another- Fairytale series.

Cheshire Cat with the last Wonderland figure, the White Rabbit. Lovely contrast of dark vs light colours.

I also find that she goes very well with the Queen Of Hearts - their dark colours blend well and they both look sexy and sassy with their legs posed.

All in all, I would rate this Cheshire Cat an overall 9.5 out of 10.
The Myethos Fairytale series has long been my absolute favourite figure series from any company. A close second is the King Of Glory figure series (and I have made it a point to collect all figures of this series, as this line is newer and began during my collection years). Myethos also has the A-Z figure series and I think they look fantastic too but I don't have a tendency for the theme so I do not collect them (if you are into the A-Z series, Myethos announced today that they will be releasing C next item/1218999).
Yesterday, Myethos announced a Sleeping Beauty figure as the next addition for their Fairytale line, whose grey prototype they will unveil at Wonfes Shanghai this month - so I am guessing it will probably be a late 2022/2023 release. I am excited for that but I am still holding out for a male Mad Hatter in future XD because he's the only one left in Wonderland that they have yet to do. I hope the company continues making quality figures with reasonable prices (though as the demands rise - so will the prices eventually. Look at Shaohua Myethos).
I hope you have enjoyed reading the review and looking at the photos. If you have this figure preordered, get hyped (if you aren't already XD) because she is fantastic! If you don't and may be looking for further information/photos, I hope this article has helped you glean some insight on the figure ;D
We are entering mid-2021 and I am rather happy to say that I currently still have NO preorders for 2022 yet (yep, true story XD). I am looking forward to the rest of my preorders for the year (nine in total).
Till the next blog, stay safe and happy collecting.
