Keoni Thiim had eight kills and three aces, and the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team rebounded from their first loss of the season with a dominant sweep of Emmanuel (Ga.) on Wednesday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.
Sypros Chakas added seven kills and Guilherme Voss had six kills in the 25-10, 25-19, 25-16 victory.
Freshman setter Tread Rosenthal had 23 assists, but UH (2-1) hit just .178 for the match. Rosenthal also had four blocks and three aces. Libero ‘Eleu Choy had a team-high eight digs.
Louis Sakanoko, a freshman from France, also had three aces as the Rainbow Warriors posted 12 aces with 10 service errors — a much better showing at the service line than in their five-set loss to Loyola-Chicago last week, during which they had 11 aces and 27 errors.
The Lions (0-1), of Conference Carolinas, were no match for Hawaii. Aiden Feeney had seven kills to lead Emmanuel, which hit minus-.031.
The teams play again Friday.
